1. Lead every bullet with a verb + a number

'Grew monthly sign-ups 42% in six months' beats 'Responsible for growth marketing' every time.

2. Put your best work in the top third

Recruiters spend an average of 7 seconds on a first scan. Your strongest role or project must be above the fold.

3. Trim to one page if you have <10 years of experience

Two pages is fine for senior candidates. Anything more is rare and should be justified.

4. Rewrite your summary for every application

Make the first three lines mirror the job description's must-haves.

5. Kill the 'Objective' section

It's decades out of date. Replace with a Summary that states value to the employer.

6. Use reverse-chronological order

Functional / skills-based CVs raise red flags. Chronological wins unless you have a genuine career gap to explain.

7. Proof-read backwards

Read the CV bottom-to-top to catch typos your eye would skip in normal order.
